“Reading Kingdom is not just a learn to read program. Dr. Blank identified six essential skills for learning to read and integrated them into her program. The six skills are sequencing, writing, sounds, meaning, grammar, and comprehension. My daughter’s reading is improving and I am noticing huge leaps in her ability to spell. She begs to do Reading Kingdom every day and proudly tells her father each new word she learns. The website is full of great information giving background on the research, explaining how and why it works, how to get started and so much more.”

Dr. Blank’s program is a daily necessity in my special education classroom. Using this incredibly effective program I am able to remediate the full range of reading skills including: sequencing, letter sound identification, and blending as well as spelling and writing. It represents a major evolution in the teaching of reading and writing. If there was an online version specifically created for ASD students I would jump at the chance to use it.

Dr. Blank’s program had a tremendous impact on our daughter, Julia’s, language. Julia is autistic and the program readily engages her. It’s amazing how a system dealing with the complexities of language can be so simple for children to follow!

My son Rory loves Dr. Blank’s program. It is the only online educational program that he actually wants to use! He finds the format easy to follow and gets a sense of achievement by completing the exercises. Although Rory has always loved books, he struggled with comprehension. Dr. Blank’s program has helped him to comprehend what he reads. We are so grateful to Dr. Blank for helping Rory become a confident reader.

From the time he was in preschool, our child, Brian, craved the ability to read, but we were not sure how to teach him. Dr. Blank’s programs showed us the way. Now Brian reads proficiently and prolifically-with full understanding. It has done wonders for his confidence in all areas of his life.

My daughter, Diane, used Dr. Blank’s program just prior to, and during, kindergarten. It captivated her imagination and taught her to read, to the amazement of her school teachers. Everything about it was so logical and it also set her up to develop all other academic skills.

“ASD Reading is an online reading program invented by Dr. Marion Blank for children living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The layout of this program is perfect for my struggling reader since he doesn’t have to read to access his lessons. One of my favorite elements of this program is the option to download student progress reports at any time or have them emailed to me weekly. I love that he can work independently on this at any time. I have seen his confidence in reading, writing, spelling, and computer skills grow tremendously since beginning ASD Reading.”

“ASD Reading is for children ages 4 thru 15 that are on the Autism Spectrum. Having a 15 year old daughter on the Autism Spectrum that struggles in many areas I was intrigued by this program. ASD Reading can be used with kids who are non-verbal or verbal. You can use ASD Reading if your child doesn’t have any reading skills, and those who don’t even know their letters. The only requirement is that they need to be able to sit down for a bit to work on the computer or tablet.ASD Reading teaches a method created by Dr. Marion Blank. She uses what he calls the 6-SIM (Six Skill Integrated) they teach all the components of the words, including the vocabulary of the word. ASD Reading is going to teach reading, writing, and phonics with the ability to decode words. Grammar and comprehension also is taught in the program. The program is a good balance for children on the spectrum. I found that it wasn’t too distracting and yet it had enough of visuals to keep my daughter interested in the program. The pace seemed just right for my daughter. I have an older daughter who has recently recognized that some programs are extremely “babyish”, as she puts it. This one isn’t so bad according to my daughter.Overall, I think the lessons are engaging for my daughter. She thought that the lessons are fun. She likes that they don’t have too much going on in sound or graphics. She doesn’t get distracted using ASD Reading. It really showed me where my daughter is academically in several areas. This has changed a few of my plans for the coming year with her for school. Very helpful!”

“Due to his Autism, one thing Garrett has always struggled with is reading.  Originally, we weren’t sure if he would ever be able to read due to his ASD but over the years he has worked hard and does read.  However, he ‘s still not at the level of reading that I think he could be at, even with his diagnosis. We’ve been working hard on reading with the kids, mostly focusing on phonics. But let’s admit it, when it comes to phonics, English is confusing for kids. Why is BIND pronounced B-EYE-ND but WIND is pronounced WAHY-ND and how do we explain to them when these changes in vowel sounds occur?  We try to teach them to sound out words but this only works if the word follows the set rules and can be sounded out. Many words just don’t follow the norm.ASD Reading is a browser-based reading that understands that phonics and sounding out words will work only with limited success.  It is designed by Dr Marion Blank who is a world-renowned expert on literacy. ASD Reading requires no prerequisite skills – even those who are nonverbal can use the program and provides customized instructions that adapt to your child’s skills to read, write and comprehend the written language…. this program seems like a great addition to any reading curriculum for autistic students. The confidence that Garrett has achieved in word recognition has really become apparent as he progresses through the program as well as in his classwork when he has to read aloud with our other curriculum.”
